For the sake of time I will cut to the chase... okay Alannah! We had a lesson with her this week about tithing and fast offerings. It is a good one because so many people really do struggle with this principle…understandably so. But it is one that truly shows our faith and our love for our Heavenly Father and our devotion to building His kingdom. Well the lesson went well, she was like 10%!?! It was good times. She really understood it though. We had her explain everything back to us and the importance of doing these things so that was good. She was able to be there for church this week, all 3 hours and the potluck after which was sweet! And on top of that we were able to take her to the baptismal font and show her all of those things. So to sum it up, things are going well there!
We had supper and a lesson with Kambo this week. It was good. We read the D&C 76 with him about basically the 3 kingdoms and everything, it went well. He is slowly coming along, I do see the light at the end of the tunnel there. We had a meeting with Neil. It was frustrating. He doesn't think we are Christians? I wanted to shake his brain. Anyways, we are working at that, might need to drop him soon, we will see.
I have another golf analogy for you that relates to what we see as a widespread problem here where people judge the church by its people as opposed to its teachings. We see it so much up here. Just because you are a member of a country club, doesn't mean you are a good golfer... Which is so true! You may have membership in the church, but people often lose focus on what that then means. The church is simply there for the sinner, and for the sick to be made whole. It is not a place for the elect to be gathered and to rejoice in their righteousness. If it were that way, they would all be translated and then we wouldn't have to worry about it anyways!
We had quite the experience this week. Tracting, just knockin doors, open up to this lady who is like okay what do you want from me? Why are you here? If you are here to preach then go away have a nice day! Well I just was like…well we are here for you. We want to see how we can help you. Yes, we have a message, but we want to see what kind of faith you have and see if we can improve your life in any way. Well one thing led to another, before you know it we are in her house. Well, she is the "spiritual type" and let's say we had a moment of silence. Then we help hands in a circle, had some type of prayer, then a group hug. It was easily one of the most strange things I have ever been a part of. But at the end she cried saying how much it meant to her that we were able to do that...sooo who knows.
I will let everyone know, I ate Belut this week! Only difference, mine was from a duck! If you look at a picture you will understand it even better!
Gotta Jet! Sorry people, next week will be better! I love you all!
