Things
are super busy when you are covering two areas, as you might imagine. We didn't get to spend all too much time in Barrhead this
week due to scheduling, which killed me. The people up there I feel are taking
a hit. But that may just make it that much more effective when we do get back
up there full-time. They might realize what they were missin out on! The members in
Barrhead though really are like family to me. I will hate having to leave them
whenever that day comes. It has been such a good experience to be up there.
There is not a ton of progress with the investigators right now up there. It's
been hard to meet lately because we have only limited days we can meet, and
then they have to cancel or something like that comes up, which stinks. A lot
of cancellations and stuff just because stuff has come up, not because of this
lack of desire or anything. I did have a really cool experience though, kind of
letting me know of one of the reasons I may be where I am at right now
so Elder Lee had to go do a baptismal
interview over in Drayton Valley for the sisters serving there. We went to a member’s
home and they actually know Madi, our investigator up in Barrhead living with
her relatives. She used to live up there with her sister with their grandpa.
Well the member we were with is actually the grandpa's home teacher. So now we
are able to connect the dots a little bit and get things back on track up
there! The investigators we have been working with in parkland though have been
pretty good. We got two to church yesterday which was good. The one we were
really hoping to make it though couldn't make it, and didn't want to talk about
it with anyone. Hopefully we can get a hold of him this week to try and help
him out. We had a great lesson with him on Friday night, it's just not making
sense. Darn that principle of agency! Always getting in the way! Things are not
too bad though, just keep on keepin on!
We got news at Zone conference on
Wednesday that there is 25 coming out in the transfer in June! So that is only
two more transfers I believe? It is crazy..I will be one of the older
missionaries at that point. It's really neat to see the work hastening in this
part of the world. The teaching is definitely a lot slower than other areas,
like south or Central America, but these are still sons and daughters of our
Heavenly Father who need to hear the gospel! Having all the new missionaries
will be good though, as they will bring the "greenie fire"! It will
be good to see how that can affect all those they serve around. Definitely a
lot changing all the time up here! Keeps it interesting!
I had quite the experience the other
day! In the library while doing our mormon.org time, there comes walking in what just
seemed like a transvestite. Well we get up to leave and he/she starts talking
to us! We have a full blown like 15 minute conversation. She/he started hitting
on me too, it was not okay!!! She/he is going in for the final
"procedure" in like a month or something. We know all about this
person now. And guess what though? We are going to go teach her/him! We got the
number and we will teach this week or so! Hopefully I can avoid getting hit on
too much! I will inform more when we go to teach...haha For some reason we like
had a bunch of things I knew about and could relate on..what a trip!
Things have been good with my
companions now though. I don't know what allowed it to change but now we get
along great! It is like a night and day difference over the last week! Now we
can actually have a good time while doing missionary work rather than having
things just drag out all the time. We are always laughing now...I love to make
jokes you know! So now I can just be myself and let everyone enjoy themselves!
It makes missionary work so much better...You need to have fun on your mission!!
But no worries, we still stay focused on the work, we have been so busy with
work lately I can't even believe it!
I thought I would leave you with a
little rhyme...
Dare to be a Mormon;
Dare to stand alone.
Dare to have a purpose firm;
Dare to make it known.
I love this gospel dearly. I hope
you all can know that I know that no matter what you may be going through, this
gospel can help and will help. The atonement can help you in every aspect of
your life. It is so much more than I ever believed it to be. I challenge you to
really get to know who our Lord and Savior is. Study his teaching and his life,
study the way he taught others while he was on earth during his mortal, and
post mortal ministries. There are magnificent blessings in store for each of
us, we need to constantly live righteously so we can be worthy to have all the
blessing s our Heavenly Father is waiting to give us, then be given us. I love
you all so much! You are all in my prayers!! I'll talk to you soon!
Love, Elder McFall
